Here is a collection of pictures taken from assorted rides in Banff/Jasper National parks, located in the province of Alberta, Canada. The road to Morraine Lake, Banff National ParkJasper National Park is only about a 3 hour ride from Edmonton. The Jasper-Banff Highway featured in these pictures is probably the most scenic road on the planet. I used to live in Jasper and have met people from all over the globe that made this statement. Thankfully, the Canadian Government has taken recent steps to preserve both parks in their natural state. This has basically stalled any new or future development, and I am sure that no one would argue that mother nature beats condo developments every time. In fact, with today's development guidelines, this highway would have never been built.
Beautiful Morraine Lake
Lake Louise
Bow Lake
A few photo's taken on the Banff/Jasper Highway (yes it is bikers heaven!)
This next set of pictures are taken just before and in Jasper National Park while heading North on the Banff/Jasper Highway
The Columbia Icefields near Parkers Ridge Mount Athabasca (Columbia Icefields) Banff-Jasper Highway at Beauty Creek Hostel
Here are a couple of pictures of Mount Fryatt which incidentally was my backyard view for two years. I am proud to say I have been to the top. Mount Fryatt is located between Sunwapta & Athabasca Falls
Here are some shots taken on the Bow Valley Parkway (Banff National Park) Note the very large Grizzly who was closer than appears
In September 2004 I was privileged to hook up with several members of the Sport Touring Network, which set up a ride from Whistler BC to Jasper Alberta. It was a group filled with incredible riders (me being the exception). Here are a couple of shots of my new found friends near Banff & the Columbia Icefields.
