Camp Fish'n Around - July & August 2007

If you know a low income family/youth that would benefit Camp Fish'n Around 2007 then please inform them to contact us.  We do have a screening process for qualifications. Plus ALL Volunteers of this society hold current Security & Child Welfare clearances.

This is a sponsored week of camp in July and August for youths (8 - 14 yrs) from low income; transportation is included.

Programs:

• Fishing (shore and boat)
• Conservation: catch & release, cow & fish organization presentation, wetlands, fish habitat health, shoreline health, recycling, water, pollution
• Sciences: marine biology, gravity, star gazing, constellations, plant id, fish id, fish habitat health, buoyancy, nature walk, forest health, campfire, fire safety/health
• Survival skills, archery, hunting/firearm safety, maps and compass
• Indoor & outdoor cooking
• Canadian studies
• Cree Nation studies

This camp is a DRY camp - use and/or possession of tobacco, alcohol, and illegal drugs are not permitted. All parties agree that these substances will be disposed of immediately prior to boarding the camp transportation vehicle.

Campers/volunteers MUST have medical insurance.

Space is limited to 96 campers. Applications are now being accepted for campers and camper attendants (see below for application instructions).

Applications

Each application must include the following:

• a short essay (300-350 words) on why you want to attend this camp or on your future fishing dreams
• a short statement of what food donation you intend to make for the camp
• a copy of a valid government subsidy
• a $20.00 Reservation Fee that is refundable upon your youth's return from camp (upon your attendance for your youth's pick up)

Cancellation of your youth's attendance at camp is required by phone at (403) 247-0723 at least 48 hours prior to camp week for your Reservation Fee to be refunded.

Cheques may be made payable to: Youths Can Fish 2. There will be a $25.00 fee for any cheque returned from the bank.
