Balance |
| Most of us are not balanced. For example, we may be stronger on our right side, and weaker on our left. We can turn our heads or twist our spines further in one direction than we can the other. |
| None of this would matter, except that being asymmetrical and unbalanced creates a level of stress and strain throughout our bodies. Parts of us work overtime, while other parts are neglected. This can lead to injury and pain. Working towards a balance within ourselves will bring a welcome harmony to the overall feeling of who we are. |
| Yoga creates symmetry throughout our bodies, making us strong and flexible. It also teaches us to balance the mental impulse to push, control, and be assertive, with the complimentary impulse to yield, surrender, and be passive. |
