1) Valley fold top and bottom points to center. Mountain fold left and right points behind.

2) Double rabbit ear the top and bottom points.

3) Fold and unfold the top point, then pull out the paper behind.

4) Fold the tip down to the crease made in step 3, then fold down again on the crease.

5) Close the point back up.

6) This is like a preliminary base.

7) Squash fold the flap with the point. Repeat behind.

8) Fold the point up to the top. As you do this the inner layers should naturally form a hidden petal fold. Repeat behind.

9) Reverse fold the sides.

10) Fold the point down. Repeat behind.

11) Fold the top down, swinging the back part up.

12) Tuck the central triangular flap inside. This is easiest if you open the model up and sink along the creases made in step 11.

13) Tuck the side flaps into the pocket shown by the dotted lines, locking the upper layers together.

14) Mountain fold the model in half and rotate 90°.

15) Inside reverse fold the front leg to the point shown. Repeat behind.

16) Inside reverse fold the legs as shown. Repeat behind.

17) Inside reverse fold the tail as shown. Outside reverse fold the feet. Squash fold the head.

18) Pleat the teeth. Mountain fold the belly; repeat behind.

19) Narrow the teeth (little squash folds on the hidden pleat will help here). Reverse fold the sides of the head for a bit of shaping.

20) The finished naked mole rat.
