Born and raised in North Vancouver, Joane's interest in art started at an early age.  It wasn't until her early teens however, that she pursued this interest through professional artist Gertrude Keene, with whom she studied under for 8 years.  She claims, "I was lucky to have had the priveledge of her talent" as Joane's work is now held in many private and corporate collections.  In addition, her work has been exhibited in The Grosvenor Gallery (Vancouver & Calgary) and the Pan Pacific Art Gallery in Vancouver.  Joane is also an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.

Joane's work has come full circle, from starting with landscapes and seascapes to florals/nature and now pets.  One thing she claims is that "although my styles have changed through the years, my intrigue for light and dark contrasts were always important".

Joane's studio is in her home in Cobble Hill, B.C. There you will find a wide variety of oils both for sale and on display.  Joane also accepts commissioned work and can work from a variety of photographs to comprise a very custom, special painting.
