It is announced that kids have been hired to work at the T.H.E. Television Network so the company can save money. The kids meet Lois, the waitress at the Network Canteen who serves them the food they ordered all in the same pot she was cooking all of it in, Kevin orders a medium rare steak so she has to cook it and charges him 12 dollars for it. Then the kids are asked to come back to the studio on the telecom but Kevin isn't able to have a chance to eat his steak and Lois tells him there are no refunds accepted at her Canteen so he never gets his money back.

There are other moments that he complains that there is a fly in his soup as well as another bug the next time he pays for a soup but Lois always fools him to still eat it and so she won't have to cook him another serving.

When the crew is ready to film the intro, Christine and the link set are upside down (but Ross and Miss Time are not) due to an engineering problem, which is later corrected by bumbling network engineer, Seth Pool. Seth whacks the TV and so Christine is back to normal.

Meanwhile, Marc tries to ask Moose out on a date, but, due to his French background, says the wrong thing, and, instead, gets a piece of fruit. Marc asks Kevin Somers how he can get a date with Moose since Somers seems to never have a problem getting a girl and Somers charges him $20 (later reduced to $5) telling him to show her who's boss, and to "pounce" but it's the wrong advice Marc takes that literally and practices pouncing, accidently pouncing on Jono. Jono gives him further advice, out by getting him to go on a ladder and while Jono stops Moose to help him read a Shakespeare script Marc is supposed to pounce on Christine but Marc loses his courage. Jono pounces on Moose ... and it turns out she wanted Jono all along! . When Christine says that she likes "good rock"(music), before introducing the Cooper Brothers as their musical guest Marc misunderstands and tries to win her over by getting her a great big boulder.

Kevin Somers gets a letter from the M.A.F.I.A.(Members of the Associated Federation of Independent Artists) union, warning him that if he doesn't pay his dues by Thursday, he'll be "fitted with concrete shoes." His face is blacked out when he doesn't pay as he no longer exists from the show. Eventually, Kevin pays up, and thinks he is able to yell at Ross, being a paid member of the union, until he finds out that Ross is a member of a different union ... the D.E.V.I.L. (Division of Electrical and Visual Industries League). At the end, Ross reveals that only the parts of the show with Kevin Somers in them can be aired, because he is the only one who belongs to the MAFIA, and he convinces the rest of the kids to pay up and join the union. When they don't get paid, the kids get invade Mr. Dime's office and threaten him until he pays up.

There is also one scene at the Network Canteen that Rodney complains there is not enough salt in his soup so Lois dumps a whole bag of salt in his soup.

This is a good episode to a new series after the pilot aired the spring before.

This episode exists in a grainy format with the musical guests in 1979 taping on CJOH-TV and in a good format without the musical guests cut out taped on YTV.
