Greg: How did you get involved as a
musical guest on Whatever Turns You
Ra: Our agent booked it and
we were performing at a Juno Award ceremony the
night before and our bassist and some other band
members were drunk that night and during the next
day they were in a hangover.
you have any rehearsals before you performed?
Ra: No we didn't. We just had
a run through and our bassist was late so our
road manager had to step in during that time and
then our bassist arrived during the shoot and had
an aspirin can with him cause of his hangover.
Greg: Now the music was
over-dubbed with your studio version of the songs
you performed. Did you play the music live too
when it was shot?
Ra: No we faked our playing
and lipsynched while it was being shot.
Greg: Were any
of the cast members fans of your band Trooper?
Ra: I am even
surprised that I remember performing on the show
as it was such a long time ago that we were on so
I wouldn't know. I am alot older now than I was
then as that was back in the late 70's.
What do you remember most of
performing on the pilot episode of the show?
Actually meeting Ruth Buzzi as I
was so excited about it and always wanted to meet
It was a shame that WTYO was
short-lived as it wasn't a bad show and changed
back to You Can't Do That On
Television a year and a half later.
WTYO was a great show to
was great to actually talk to the guy behind Trooper as he was very patient
with my interview and am glad he remembers some
stuff about it. He is truly a cool cat and I hope
he will keep the band alive till he dies.
