 Due to
financial problems T.H.E Television Network can't
afford to bring a live band for their next
episode so when Mr. Dime looks for a rock star he
can manipulate to make money, dumb and
unsuspecting Kevin Somers gets the job, believing
it is his ticket to fame, fortune and a solid
gold Trans Am. However Kevin can't sing or play
an instrument or even figure out mathematics to
figure out his wage.
He
shows off his new rockstar outfit and unzips his
shiny coat a bit to show off a piece of hair from
his chest but Moose pulls the hair off and Kevin
zips his coat up again.
As a promotional
idea, Kevin convinces Christine to let him
perform on the show, even though he won't be paid
for it. Even then, whenever he's ready to play,
something comes up -- whether it's an autograph,
a coffee break or the end credits -- that keeps
him from performing.
He also tries to
perform in his classroom at school but the bell
rings and everyone leaves. However, he manages to
grab Rodney and forces him to listen to his
performance.
Meanwhile, Lisa,
hoping to get Rodney to come to her birthday
party but Rodney always refuses. Lisa still finds
a way to get him to come. Eventually she tells
Rodney that CFL star Tony Gabriel (his favorite
sports star) is coming but Rodney doesn't believe
her. When it turns out he is, it's too late
because Rodney already said no. The only way he
could get to go, however, is if he kisses Lisa.
When he does, he discovers that he actually likes
it.
There is also a
hilarious skit that Ms. Fit is tied up and gagged
and then the school principle comes in and
demands an explanation who did so and when Lisa
tells him it was her he is happy that she told
him the truth and gave her a candy before
lunchtime and when the bell rings everyone leaves
and Miss Fitt is still tied up and gagged.
Finally, Kevin has
a chance to perform but it is during the closing
credits with the theme song muting out his
playing and singing. Then at the very end he asks
the fortune teller if he will make it big as a
rock star but the crystal ball blurs out and said
she should've paid for cablevision.

This
episode was finally found in good quality thanks
to a taping 20 years ago on YTV than to
Dan Poirer.
Kevin Somers
"Rock Star Outfit" is the same one he
wore in the Whatever Turns You On
pilot, when he was trying to get on the
show.
Although
there is unknown date to this episode this was probably the last one
before the plug was pulled on it due to poor
ratings which is unfortunate as it was a very
entertaining children's show.
