| About The School... |
|
Margaret Ekosky is the founder and
owner of the Winnipeg K9 Education Centre.
Margaret began teaching Puppy Obedience and Life Skill classes in 1991, under the name
"WOOF". She later changed the name of her school to Winnipeg K9 Education Centre
(reg'd), to better reflect the type of training and educational services offered to dogs
and their humans.
When the school was founded, Margaret taught the Gentle Puppy, Family Pet, and
Intermediate levels, and Annice Baraschuk (of Rye Golden Retrievers Reg'd)
taught the Open and Utility Competition levels. A short time later, Margaret expanded
her teaching duties to all of the levels, competition classes included.
Margaret introduced a positive, challenging method of training that greatly enhances
the dog-owner relationship, and allows handlers to experience the joy of teaching their
dogs the art of obedience. Equally important, the dogs also learn to enjoy obedience as
a sport! Many students have benefited from Margaret's ideas on new and improved ways of
teaching and learning, and have described her classes as 'enjoyable' and 'very
creative.'
The school proudly boasts a huge alumni of all-breed Obedience Titled dogs.
Many of our Title Holders are High in Trial achievers, and several are
Multiple High in Trial winners, including Margaret's own German Shepherd, OTCh/Ch
Ladejamar's James Cagney.
Margaret would like to express sincere thanks to all those who have volunteered
in one capacity or another over the years at Winnipeg K9. Many students have assisted helping out in the classroom, while others
have helped out with the organization of award presentation nights, student parties and events such as Obedience Fun Matches.
Margaret also wishes to express her
appreciation to students past and present, veterinarians, and those in the pet supply
business who continue to support the school through their referrals to our classes.
The students and their families must also be highly commended on their hard work all
year round on collection and distribution of hampers to all of the Doggie No-Kill Shelters in Winnipeg. |
