Turned Wood Art Gallery

      Niel Stoutenburg

These “Sea Forms” were conceived for the Douglas Baker gallery of  Minneapolis to display at the Collectors of Wood Art forum in Philadelphia, Sept. 2005.

I was thinking about the little sea creatures I see scooting in the water at the beach.  My dog “Tigger”loves to go fishing for these little guys. She really looks like a Tigger when she’s jumping  after them.  The wood I used is Bocote and the inserts in the openings are African Blackwood.  The biggest one featured on this page is about a 2 1/2”diameter and 7”long.  I made the bases from a 3/4” acrylic sheet.

The rest of these forms are quite small. About a 1”diameter and maybe 2 1/2”to 3”long.

This is a long page so make sure you scroll to the end.
