The interpretation of art can be very simple. When I see an object that captures my attention, I am drawn to study form, line, texture, pattern, rhythm, structure and so on. I do the same
thing when I am out enjoying nature. A piece of driftwood, a rock formation, the shape of a tree and the texture of its bark, plants, sea creatures, shells – all of Natures’ artwork influence my art. Living on
the West Coast, the abundance of nature is a constant stimulus.
My artwork is like my children in that I am so close to it that I have difficulty being objective at times. I often like to live with a piece for a while before I decide if it’s
finished. Some pieces have been around for a number of years constantly having little things added or taken away – evolving I guess – kind of like me!
Woodturning and the creation of wood art is my work and I love it! I love to create beautiful things that people can use. I love to create beautiful things for people look at, hold and
question.
