The Cilla Rose Affair - About the Author

Last update: 04 January 2004

I was born in Hampstead, a northern suburb of London, England on September 2, 1954. I came to Canada with my parents in 1957 and grew up in Regina, Saskatchewan. I'm a graduate of Central Collegiate and the University of Regina, where I received my BA in Literature. In 1982 I moved to Vancouver, BC and in 1985 I received my MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia.

In the past I've been a freelance writer for assorted newspapers and magazines, a temporary secretary in England ("Brook Street Bureau Got Big By Bothering"!), a travel agent ("Six seats to Hawaii at Christmas? NO PROBLEM!") and the Managing Editor of a literary magazine (Prism international).

For four years I was a tech writer, creating and editing student materials for TELUS Learning Services in Burnaby, BC.

I recently graduated from the full-time Writing for Screen and TV program at Vancouver Film School.

My husband is a broadcaster in Vancouver.

My short stories have appeared in an assortment of Canadian journals; my spy novel, SKYWATCHER, won Honourable Mention in the 1987 Seal Books First Novel Contest and was published by Bantam in the U.S. and Seal in Canada in 1989.

The sequel to SKYWATCHER, THE CILLA ROSE AFFAIR, was published in July 2001. I've adapted the novel into a one-hour tv pilot...if there are any interested producers out there....

I've also written a full-length feature, FOUND AT SEA (a romantic thriller set aboard a cruise ship in the Caribbean).

My latest work is an interview/article for Lifestyle magazine in New Zealand, about Sean Bean, published in their Summer 2002 issue.

I'm the webmaster of The Compleat Sean Bean, the oldest and largest fan-based website about British actor Sean Bean.
