Hi
and Welcome to my Web Page. To find out what's up check
out one of my pages.
A full calendar year has passed with me posted in
Toronto. I did change positions so I am working a lot in Petawawa but I
very much look forward to coming home. I have been able to connect very
well with the Ontario side of the family. This would include my in-laws
in Glencoe and London. My cousin Karen in Oshawa and my Dive buddy and
my brother in law Ron's brother Hans just North of Toronto.
Another
Year in Toronto Anyone looking for an MBA with 27 years of managerial
experience. Toronto is not what I signed up for although I do try to make the
best of wherever I am. One advantage is that I get to see Ontario relatives
more frequently and other than the location the job is great. What do I do
with my time? SCUBA dive, work, play sports and visit relatives and friends.
This would be an excellent job if it were 3,000kms closer to home. In
Feb 06, Pat and I took in the Tournament of Hearts which was held in
London.
The
deed is finally done. The MBA is complete. I finished in April with a 91%
average and the big graduation and convocation was in June. What a party
but I am glad that is done. The big question everyone asks is now what
do you do with all your free time. I would like to say nothing but I
have three years of projects to catch up on. Other Activities over the
past six months have been our trip to Mexico (visit SCUBA)plus
I was recently promoted and I will be changing jobs again within the military.

The MBA studies
were intense this year.
One of the better parts of the MBA has been the residence courses. I
took two this past year one on leadership during the summer and another on
globalization in the fall. Here is a picture of Chris one of my friends
in the MBA program. We had to do a theatrical skit on leadership as part
of our course that is why Chris is wearing a toga. Go to my Activities
page for more.
July 2003
My studies continue on the MBA as I have passed the 1/3
complete mark. It is nevertheless a
challenging venture and time is always at a premium. Occasionally the cat
comes in to chew on my feet to wake me up or try to help me type my latest
assignment. I changed positions recently, which has eased the stress
somewhat. I now work with a great bunch of people and an excellent
boss. I did work with great people before however the stress level is
much reduced now. One of our trips in my new unit was to the Little Big
Horn in Montana to study the Custer battle field. This trip was
educational and a lot of fun. I look forward to a great
year.
As always plenty of activity, to keep my life at an aggressive
pace. To take
away any leftover time I started a MBA with Athabasca University. I have
no life other than work and study, although there have been a few breaks
between courses. In Feb I was at a conference in Halifax and I was able
to catch the first day of the Briar. In March Cathy and I went to the
coast to do a little diving. Then during July I went to visit Karen and
Garnet in Kingston ON and Bryn while he was in training. I went to
Christopher Lake in Saskatchewan with Gord and Cathy and I took a trip to
Waterton to do a little SCUBA diving. See more in SCUBA
and Jay's Acitivities
2002
was insanely busy. In Feb we deployed the 3PPCLI BG to Afghanistan.
I played a key role in the deployment plan but it was many long hours and
extremely tiresome. Right after that we got to work on the support for
the G8. Although very little occurred at the event itself much of that
can be attributed to good planning by all government departments. From
my perspective on the inside it was busy and I am glad that one is over
with. I did manage a short break in England for two weeks I was on the
Joint Svcs Movement Staff Course. This was a great course and a lot of
fun.
I also managed
a little sight seeing like Stone Hedge seen here.
In March 2001. I was in Virginia on the
Advanced Traffic Management Course. This course was basically how the US
forces do their strategic movement through the air and across the water.
The scale is massive.
The kids and I had a successful trip out to BC
for some SCUBA diving, golfing, skiing
and the baptism of my nephew Dryden. We started our trip
heading towards Calgary where we stayed overnight at Dadye's.
From there we went to
Kelowna
and visited my friend Paul Ellard. The skiing started
well but then Brett fell. Once we got Brett back to the
chalet Bryn, Paul and I were able to put in a succession of
successful runs. For more on skiing see Brett's
Page. After leaving Paul's we went to my parents'
place. My sister Dadye was there as well. On Wednesday
the weather was great so we went golfing in Twawassen. I
did well shooting an 88.
On Friday Bryn and I went to Porteau Cove to do some SCUBA
diving. The conditions were perfect. Porteau Cove
is about halfway between Horseshoe Bay and Squamish.
Porteau Cove is a divers' park which has dive showers and rinse
stations for your gear. Given that it was winter however,
they were shut off. The only ones
diving were Bryn, me and a couple of guys from Prince George,
who showed up as we were leaving. The diving was
excellent with visibility at around 80ft. There are a
number of small boats that have been sunk including a
minesweeper. There was also lots of life including
hundreds of crabs about hand size, prawns and ling
cod.
