Welcome to Kevin's West Cost Trail Page

A long time ago two friends and I hiked the West Coast Trail...  It was the summer of 1983...
It's all coming back to me now...
The West Coast Trail is located on the west coast (natch...) of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.  The trail was originally used as a maintenance route for the only telegraph line that ran up and down the coast of the island.  Today it is used as a recreational spot for hikers.  It is listed as one of the top ten hikes in the world.  I highly recommend it for anyone who is into hiking and looking for a grand adventure.  Below is a selection of photos I took from my second hike of the trail...

Kevin, Casey and Mike... The adventure begins - Port Renfrew...  Lookout below...  Pathways thru the fallen logs...  Ladders, ladders, more ladders...
Lunch on the beach...  Boardwalk thru the swamp...  A river to the sea...  The suspense is killing me...
Waves crashing over a breach...  An enchanted forest path...  Old cabins overlook the beach...  Ancient Indian burial caves by the sea...
Approaching Hole in the Wall...  At Hole in the Wall...  Spectacular Tsusiat Falls...  A sanctuary from the rain...
Another bridge, another waterfall...  A donkey engine - used to haul logs up the slope...  Pachina Point lighthouse...  End of the trail - Bamfield...

Bon Voyage !
