The Work of Women Teachers in Vancouver, 1945-1960

My doctoral research seeks to examine the role of secondary school women teachers in the formation of democratic citizenship through post-WWII Canadian education. This project centres on the collection and analysis of oral histories from women who taught in Vancouver or Toronto secondary schools for at least 3 years between 1945-1960. Each interview will take approximately one to two hours at a location and time of your choosing. It is my sincere hope that you fit the criteria for the study and may be willing to share your memories of the education system. Subject: Vancouver Women's Building 1910'sI am researching the fundraising done for the Vancouver's Women's Building in the 1910's to the 1920's.
In 1913, a special Women's Issue of the Vancouver Sun was sold to raise money and, later, individuals and groups bought $25 shares in the " Vancouver Women's Building Ltd."If anyone knows of someone in their family who was involved in this fundraising, or if you have noticed 1910-20's articles in your local newspapers about the Women's Building, please e-mail me at diane_rogers@shaw.ca or write c/o WHN/BC.
