Tea with Grandma

My Grandmother Winnifred Ritchie died in 1973, leaving behind warm memories of many cups of tea [in bone china cups] along with a wonderful stack of hand-embroidered tablecloths. I chose Tea Party as my theme for this round robin to preserve salvaged parts of a badly damaged tablecloth along with memories of Grandma.

Closeup of quilting and salvaged embroidery.

Source: I pieced the teapot, adapted from an on-line pattern. The "tea cloth" under the pot is only sewn down on one side, giving a "3-d" effect. Rounds were added by Teri, Marcella, Carol, Bonnie and Danielle before the quilt was returned to me. Some of the fabrics chosen didn't fit with my original plan, so I changed them to the floral you see here and added the folded blue border to finish the quilt. [The original quilt is shown below] To see other quilts from this miniature round-robin, check out Terri's gallery
Quilting: "steam" in variegated thread rising from the teacups, simple swirl pattern in white backgrounds.
