Word in Patchwork: Christmas Sampler

Quilter: Kim Graham Location: Nanaimo, BC
Fabrics:
Background creme, brown, peach irregular stripe on beige
Focus Hoffman Poinsetta print in pink, rose and blue-green on creme. The narrow centre border in the focus print was a happy "design decision": I only had a few inches of this fabric left, so the finished border is less than 1" wide. Although it was not my intention, without a wide poinsetta print border, this "reads" less like a Christmas quilt, allowing us to display it out of season.
Blocks, frames, outer borders Various tone-on-tones in shades of green and pink
Quilting: Invisible thread meandering, stitch-in-the-ditch
Comments: this is a favourite setting. It allows the quilter to frame out irregular size blocks, while still setting aside 4 blocks of the same size for the corners. The corner blocks shown here are all blocks which I prefer set straight rather than on-point like the centre blocks. Finished quilt is approximately 48x72"
