Welcome
to “Captured In Wood”
Betty Sager is a resident of Abbotsford
B.C. Canada.
Perhaps it is a beloved childhood
memory… the smell of fresh cut wood, as her father
arrives home each day from his work in forestry, that
has helped to develop a love for wood, or the hours walking
the creek beds looking for the treasured agate has developed
the interest in shapes and wonderful colors of stone.
Realistic busts of her father, mother and husband with
their traditional classic style are among her favorites.
They are a tribute of her love for them, and are gifts
for the future generations to enjoy.
Betty experiments with many different styles of sculpting
from the classic human busts to the stylized and abstract.
She has a love for the free form style capturing the motion
of nature.
Sculpting is a journey of discovery. Discovering how
to see what is in the wood or stone and how to “Let
it out”. She loves that feeling when the creativity
is flowing, and says, “It is like having God dance
through me”.
Competes both locally and internationally having won
many firsts and People’s Choice awards. Betty’s
work can be found in local and international collections.
Happiness is a journey, not a destination.
