Tad started making his own carved hunting decoys over 50 years ago, when he was a young boy living in Alberta. In 1950 his family relocated to Richmond, B.C. and he and his dad became Commercial fisherman. All the while Tad continued making hunting decoys for his dad and himself. He accomplished carving 50 to 60 decoys over the years for the purpose of hunting.
Tad continued to fish until the late 1980's when retired but continued carving hunting decoys. In 1994, after seeing an article in National Geographic about carving Decorative Decoys he became hooked and developed his skill in this North American art form. Thereafter he switched and took up Decorative Decoy carving as a full time hobby. To advance his skill level he has taken 4 different courses with the celebrated wildfowl carver Ernie Muelamatt over the years.
Each year Tad provides a beautiful Decorative Decoy carving for The Ducks Unlimited annual auction. Tad has sold his carvings throughout the world and he welcomes your enquiries.
