Jive - 6:00 - 7:00pm -
Dance Description: Swing Dances - like the Jive
... refers to an entire genre of dances that started in the 1920s with the Lindy Hop and has stayed popular to present time. Other Swing dances include: Jitterbug, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Carolina Shag, St. Louis Shag, etc. Danced to Big Band, Jazz and Rhythm & Blues music. The style of Jive we will be learning is the Single Rhythm Jive. The basic action is a rock step followed by two side steps and is done to moderately fast music.

West Coast Swing - 7:00 - 8:00pm
Dance Description: Developed in the 1940s as a slot dance to help control overcrowding and the wild dancing of the Jitterbuggers. It consists of a combination of six and eight count figures; danced to Rhythm and Blues, Big Band and Contemporary music. The West Coast Swing encourages individuality and creativity.

Argentine Tango - 8:00 - 9:00pm
Dance Description: A style of Tango that originated in the streets and salons of Buenos Aires over 150 years ago is characterized by its intimate hold and complex leg and foot movements.

Location - TBA, Gabriola

Cost: $40 for 4 weeks - sorry no drop-ins
Everyone Welcome - Including Singles

Working with Nanaimo & other communities:
any group of 12 or more people (6 couples) can hire me ... you don't have to be friends but it does make it more fun!!
Location: will be determined by the group - it seems that someone always had space somewhere!
Dates: time and day will be worked out with the group
Cost: 2 hours for 6 weeks - $120 per person
Dances: whatever you want!
And if you don’t have quite enough people I will check my list to see if anyone I know would like to join your group.
