Langford Lake has Level 1 monitoring, which during most months includes weekly Secchi disk readings (water clarity) and surface water temperature (taken 1 m deep). In addition, the Ministry of Water, Land and Air Protection does monitoring of Dissolved Oxygen (DO) - essential for survival of aquatic creatures. During summer months, the Vancouver Island Health Authority publishes monthly reports (PDF format) of fecal coliform readings for most Greater Victoria Lakes. Compare Langford Lake to Glen Lake and Prospect Lake.
Weekly water level readings are also taken on Langford Lake. The water level staff gauge is located near the swimming beach at the end of Leigh Road.
