     StuartRW's polished and forged 5 spoke Audi TT rims. 17 X 7.5" Stuart is running Bridgestone RE730's and paid about $1200 to an audiworld member and had a good experience buying the set over the internet. Stuart is running H&R Race springs with Bilstein Sport dampers and experience rubbing only when the wheel is to the extreme turning radius. Stuart Noticed better handling and reduced road noise with the new rubber.
     Antonio is running 18 X 8.5 BBS LMS's on his 2000 GTI GLX. The wheels weigh about 22.5 lbs and Antonio is running 225/40/18 Kumho ECSTA Supra's, but he HAD to roll the fenders to reduce rubbing due to offset issues. Antonio is running Koni coil-overs and is waiting on front and rear sways.
    On his GTI Bernie is running Oettinger Type M Split Rim at
17 X 8". With Bilstein dampers and Neuspeed Race springs Bernie is not experiencing any rubbing. Additionally, his 12.3" Audi TT brake kit fits perfectly
      Bernie is running 18 X 8" RH Evolution C5's on this JTI, offset is 35mm. Bernie is running 225/40/18 Yokohama Parada Asymmetric's. Bernie purchased this rims from Greedspeed Tires.
     Rowan is running OZ Superleggera 18X8" rims at 17 lbs each. Offset is 35mm and his tires are Yoko Parada (215/35/18's). Rowan has Bilstein coilovers and is running 5 mm spacers in the rear for looks only and calls this the best mk4 suspension setup. No rubbing has been noticed; additionally, Rowan has Zimmermin cross drilled front and rear w/ Mintex pads and has no clearance problems. He has no front sway, but has a large rear sway and has zero tire noise!

   

 Steez is running AT Italia Riva's on his 2001 Jetta GLX. They are 17 X 8" and about 26 lbs each. Steez is running 225/45/17 Kumho Ecsta's. Cost is about $250 each for wheels and $100 for tires; he purchased them from Tirerack with a good experience.

 

Steez is running Neuspeed Bilstein dampers with sport springs.

   

Thomas is running Ronal R7 18X8's on his 2001 Jetta VR6. They weigh about 27 lbs and the offset is 35 mm. Thomas has them wrapped in Pirelli P7000's at 225/40/18. Direct from the factory the wheel and tires as a package cost $1800

Thomas is running H&R coilovers with an 8 mm spacer in the rear. He IS experiencing LOTS of rubbing.

Moclov is running Audi S3 6 spoke alloys on his 2001 Jetta 1.8t. They are 17X7.5 and weight about 35-40 lbs. The offset is 32 mm.

 

Moclov purchased them from the UK for about $1150 frpm Phillip Walker Motorsports.

    HK_Predator's  Mille Miglia Actions are 17 X 8" and weigh about 19 lbs each and have a 35 mm offset. He is running 225/45/17 Kumho Ecsta's and got them for $1150 balanced and installed from Town Fair Tire, Nashua NH where they have excellent service and knowledge. HK_Predator has H&R springs with Koni Sport dampers with no problems. Handling is excellend, tires are quiet unless drivien hard.
    Roadsleeper has "IWC" (Italian Wheel Company) Quicksilver's at
17 X 7.5". He has Michelin Pilot HX MXM4's in the 225/45/17 size. He paid $950 from RPI Equipped and was happy buying from them. Roadsleeper is running H&R Sports with Bilstein Sport dampers and notes good handling even with the all season rubber. No problems.

    Dustin is running Borbet Type R wheels at 17x8". They weigh 20.5 lbs and have a 35 mm offset. Dustin's tires are Sumitomo HTR-Z II's at 225/45/17. His package from tirerack was $1500 and he had great service. Dustin's runs H&R sports with Biltein dampers and has no problems. Additional brake work he has done are AutoTech SS Brake Lines, Mintex Red Box Pads, Lucas Girling 5.1 Brake Fluid. Dustin finds the Sumitomos quiet with precise and accurate handling.
    Ryan has BBS CH's on his 1999.5 GLS VR6. They are 18x8.5 and about 22 lbs for the wheel or about 45 lbs wheel and tire. The offset is ET 30. Ryan is running Pirelli P7000 Supersporst at 225/40/18. He has noticed decreased fuel economy and acceleration and is annoyed by the tire noise and would not buy P7K's again. Ryan is running H&R coiloves with about a 2" drop all around and has no rubbing issues.
    Improvius has 16x7 Motegi MR8's at 16.5 lbs each with offset 42 mm. on his 2001 GTI. He is running Bridgestone RE730s at 225/50/16 which weigh 23 lbs. Total cost as $1150 . Had to shave 1 mm off the caliper due to the high offset. Amazing handling although there is significant tire noise and steering wheel vibration.
    Wyseguy is running OZ Racing F1 Racing Cup Modular rims at 18x8 with offset ET 35. They weigh 43 lbs with 225/40/18 Yoko Parada or 20.7 lbs bare. Wyseguy has Neuspeed sports with Bilstein dampers and is waiting on KW Coils. 10 mm spacer in rear; handling is great, but poor in the rain; there is a little tire noise.
   

Quickstick  has 17x8 Borbet type E on his GTI. They are 45 lbs for wheel and tire and offset is 38 mm. His tires are Kumho Ecsta 720's at 225/45/17 the setup cost $1400 from tirerack; he had to rebalance them afterward. Quickstick has Bilstein sport and Eibach pro kit sport springs. Handling is much improved.

Misc brake work is Mintex Red box, Neuspeed SS brake
lines, ATE super blue brake fluid

   

Cosmic631 has Speedline modulars for Porsche applications on his 2.0T for the "wide look." 17x8 in the front and 17x9.5 in the rear; H&R adapters were required to fit the bolt pattern. His tires are Pirelli P-zero asymmetricos 205/50/17 in the front and 255/40/17 in the rear. His suspension is the H&R cup kit. His fenders are not rolled, but he does experience some rubbing when 2 people are in the car. Brakes are Zimmerman X-drilled Rotors/ Mintex pads/ Stainless Lines.

Update: Fenders are rolled and rubbing is gone.

    Chris is running Kahn RS-R 17x8's on his 2001 GTI VR6. They have a 35 mm offset, weight is ?? His tires are Michelen Pilot Sports at 225/45/17. Total cost was $1800 from edgeracing which included centre rings, wheels, tires, and electronic balancing. Chris's suspension will be Weitec coils with A rear shine sway bar. No Problems so far.

    Nick is running 17x7 VW Tocatta's on his 2001 GTI. He has them wrapped in 225/45/17 Kumho Ecsta's. Total price was about $1100, but he got a deal on the wheels when buying the car. Tires are grippy, wheels feel heavy but are strong. Nick wants to upgrade his suspension now.
    Overdrive is running Zender LeMans at 17x8.5 with a 35 mm offset. His tires are Pirelli p7000 supersports at 225/45/17. $299/wheel from Autotech,, $133 per tire from  Tirerack. Overdrive has Bilstein PSS9's which cause a little rubbing on hard turns and is running 5mm front spacers and 8mm rear spacers to remedy any rubbing. Brake work is Velocity Sport big-brake upgrade (slotted Audi TT rotors and carriers) in
the front. Mintex Redbox brakepads all around and Autotech SportTuned
stainless steel/braided brakelines.

   

Silver Jettaway has MOMO GT2 17x8 wheels on this VR6. They weigh 26 lbs each. Silver J has Pirelli P7000 supersports at 225/45/17. They cost about $1100 for the set pre owned.

 

Turn in handling is improved, but tire noise is a concern.

   

Playa178 has stock VW 17x7" Long Beach wheels on his 2001 GLS. Stock tires are Michelen H rated 225/24/17.

Anyone know wheel width??

Playa178 has Eibach/VW OEM Prokit springs on this stock sport suspension shocks.

 

 

Howard has Stilauto SR400B 17x8 rims at 22 lbs and offset ET 35 from Edge Racing. He has Michelin Pilot XGT H4's at 225/45/17. The entire package coast $1275 and had good service and quick response to questions.

 

Howard has Eibach pro-kit springs and bilstein dampers. Handling is much improved over stock and the ride seems smoother.

   

Roger Moore has Breyton Magic Racing 19x9's with front offset ET 48 and rear ET 38 with 5x100 -> 5x112 H&R 20mm adapters. Roger is running Dunlop SP 9000 235/35/19. The setup cost $1100 per wheel!

Roger is running Bilstein PSS9 coilovers and a rear 28 mm neuspeed sway bar. Roger HAS rolled the fenders but experiences no rubbing. Audi 312 mm brake kit clears with no problems. Handling is awesome.

   

 Sniper27 is running Team Dynamics Raider (discontinued) at 17x7 weighing 24 lbs each. His tires are Falken Zeix ZE-502 at 235/45/17. Cost for the package including Wheels, tires, bolts, locks, valve stems, mounting, balancing was approx. $1400 froma local tuner shop.

Sniper has a Weitec GT cupkit with 30 mm drop and experiences NO rubbing. Handling is good and susp. is firm, tires grip well in wet and dry. Tires quiet, but get noisier as they wear.

   

TerribleOne is running BBS RXII's at 17x7.5 on this 200 GTI GLS. They have a 35 mm offset. TerribleOne has Kumho 225/45/17 tires and paid ~480 per wheel from a local plate in Atlanta.

Terrible is running Neuspeed sport springs and likes them.

   

Tim is running 17" x 7.5" Borbet
type S with Bridgestone Potenza RE730. I don't know about weight, but theyre definitely strong wheels... I've hit some pretty bad upstate NY potholes and they haven't bent yet.

I paid just over $1200 for the whole package from the Tire Rack, and it was
a very good experience with Eric.

   

Woofmag is running TR Motorsport Typhoons at 17x7 which weight 24 lbs each at possibly a 35 mm offset. His tires are Sumitomo HTR Z II's at 225/45/17 and had a good buying experience from Tirerack, the package cost ~ $1100.

Suspensions is stock, but handling is improved over stock 15: alloys with Continental all seasons.

   

Fly-GTI is running TSW Trophy's at 18x7 and about 23 lbs each at offset 35 mm. He has Toyo 225/40/18 tires. The cost was about $750 from TSW.com.

Fly-GTI has an Apex Sport suspension and hub-centric adapters act as 10 mm spacers for these wheels. Handling is greatly improved, but pickup is slower. Already bent two wheels after 8 months.

    NWbora is running KW Cups at 18x8.5 in the front and 18x9.5 in the rear. 33 lbs front, 34 lbs rear. Tires are Toyo 225/40/18 front and 235/4018 rear. Wheels were $599 front and $649 rear from HPA Motorsports. NW Bora has Bilstein sports and Neuspeed Race springs, no rubbing, no rolled fenders although he must used 25 mm adapters with a bolt pattern adapter 5x100 -> 5 x 112.

   

Raring2Go is running Ace Lola's at 17x7.5 and 21.75 lbs each. Offset is 35 mm ?? his tires are bridgestone RE730's at 225/45/17. The cost was about $1300 shipped, mounted, and balanced from Victoria Tire which provided slow service.

Raring2Go is running an H&R Cup Kit and experiences rubbing even with 8 m spacers. Raring finds the tires a bit noisy (they are notorious for that)

Raring2Go may eventually replace this suspension as the camber is off and it continues to rub even with spacers. He also wouldn't mind lighter wheels for the track.

    16vracer has IWC (Italian Wheel Company) Indy's at 17" with Kumho Ecasta 712's at 225/45/17
   

16vracer also has TT 5 spoke polished wheels at 17" with Bridgestone 225/45/17 tires. 16vracer has VW Eibach springs.

novaVR6 is running 18x8 BBS RC's with Bridgestone Potenza RE730's (225/40/18) amd has Bilstein PSS9's.

    IGOVW2 is running Mille Miglia Evo's at 16" (chromed). Tires are stock, pruchase through tirerack was very good.

   

Sanctified is running BBS RC's at 18x8 and paid $465 per rim at Modern Garage which was excellent to deal with. Bilstein sports and Neuspeed sports. Handling is great, noticable better than 17x7 rims.

Snactified has Z rated Nitto Extremes but will be getting some Yokohamas next time!

   

Snapster is running VW Monte Carlos (GTI Sport package wheels) on his Wolfsburg Jetta. Size is 17" and his tires are Michelen Pilot HX MXM4 225/45/17 (stock issue) on sport suspension.

Subliminl is sporting Kahn Design RSS at 18x8 with offset 35 mm wrapped in Sumitomo HTRZ II's at 225/40/18 from Edge Racing. Excellent customer support there.

Subliminl has Koni Yellows with eibach springs and doesn't experience any rubbingm excellent looking, strong wheels. Handles like a dream with minimal tire noise. (editors note, if anyone knows the weight of these wheels, please write to me)

   

Tugz_Vr6 is running VW stock Monte Carlos with the stock sport supsension package and likes the ContiContactSport tires very much (225/45/17 stock size). Tugs says: Car has good handling for stock, but sometimes the ride gets soft and there's too much body roll in turns. The Continentals are excellent in the dry and wet. High speed stability is very good, Continentals are very responsive and gives excellent feedback to the driver.

Vortex says 23 lbs each

    forcefedgti  is running MOMO GT 2 Anthracite 17x8 wheels, each ~26 lbs with a 38 mm offset. His tires are Prilelli P7000SS at 225/45/17 and the total package cost $1800 From Butler Tire in Atlanta. Excellent handling, low tire noise.

   

Aaronh is running SSR Competition's at 17x7.5 with a weight ~ 14.5 lbs. Aaron has Sumitomo HTRZ II's at 225/45/17 which have some tire noise. The entire setup cost $2000 at Tirerack where he was given good service.

Aaron also has H&R Sports with eibach sways and may need new shocks soon. Aaron AutoX's his car.

   

beetle and gti 1.8t lover is running 17x7.5 VW OEM Bravos on this GTIwith 225/45/17 Michelin Pilot SX MXX3. The wheels weight ~43 lbs with the tire. He also has H&R sport springs w/1.5in drop and Koni yellow sport shocks and a Shine rear sway bar.

Beetle lover AutoX's he car too.

   

Smackdub is running Montegi Racing MR7's at 17x7.5 with Kumho 225/45/17's. Smackdub had a great experience buying from 1010tires.com, the package cost $1700 Canadian. (editors note, I am Canadian too!!, yippee, I will have to try this store)

Handling: awesome after adding upper and lower front tie bars, need new sway bars to make it even better. Tire Noise: nothing. Problems encountered making it work?: had to get the tires balanced quite a few times and still had wheel vibration until i lowered the car, it's been great since then !!!!!

   

Biker77 Is running Oettinger RE at 17x8 with ContiSportContacts at 225/45/17 which cost $1700 for everything from DTM Autohaus.

Feels solid on the road and has noticable tire noise. Rubbed once on a speedbump.

   

 DanMalX is Running Konig Verdicts at 18x8 with a 40 mm offset. His tires are 225/40/18 Kumho Supra Ecsta and the setup cost $1300 at Discount Tire.

 

Neuspeed Sport Springs.

   

MyVR6 has HRE 540 at 17x? which are approx 21 lbs each. He is running Yoko AVS sports at 225/45/17. Cost is $1000 PER WHEEL! H&R Coilovers at 2 inch drop, running 5mm spacers front and rear. Handles like its on rails, no tire noise, good wet weather traction.

    Eggroller has VW Stock AVUS alloys at 15x6 with a 38 mm offset. If you know the weight of an AVUS e-mail me. OEM sport suspension and 11.3" stock brakes. Tires are Continental CH95 195/65HR-15 91H
   

CTodd is running VW OEM Siata at 17x? with Kumho Ecsta Supra 215/45/17 for a total cost of $1500 ($249 per rim). Road feels much better compared to stock.

Godlike is running Konig Tantrums at 17x8.5 on his Jetta TDI. The offset is 40s and he is running Pirelli P7000 SS at 215/45/17. Total package cost $1400 at discount tire one year ago.

Comments: Handling - Much sharper and acurate than the stock tire/wheel(gee, like that wasn't obvious. Tire Noise: The SS's are not there to make a smooth and quiet ride, and is obvious the first time you go on the freeway.

   

Perry is running VW OEM Tocatta's with Goodyear F1s at 225/45/17. The Wheels cost $800 CAD at the dealership. Perry has Eibach springs and says that handling is like a night and day difference, especially in the rain. HEAVY WHEELS, the car feels slower.

 

   

Wolfsburg_de is running VW 16" BBS Wolsfburg edition wheels. 16x6.5 with offset 42mm. He has Michelin MXV4's at 205/55/16 .

Handling is much better than stock 15" avus and continentals.

   

similar to above, Pal is running BBS RX II (2 piece wheels) at 16" with Eagle RS-A 205/55/16 tires. Pal got these from a WB Jetta; They weigh about 42 lbs with stock tires (thanks John A.)

The Shine suspension kit works great with 16" rims and 205/55 tires ... with the 17's, it transmits a lot of vibrations into the cabin and may cause premature creaks and rattles. Handling: Awesome! Negligible squat and dive during acceleration and braking, flat and almost roll-free cornering and lift throttle oversteer on tap. And sharper steering response to boot. Definitely a recommended setup for anyone looking for awesome handling with an almost stock look. Tire Noise Negligible.

    Rix Mix is running Konig Reign at 17x7.5 with Nitto NT 450 Extreme Z rated at 224/45/17. Total cost was ~$1100 from America's Tire. Rix Mix has Neuspeed Sports and Bilstein dampers. Tire noise is similar to stock and give a fairly smooth ride
   

Tyrolkid is running Audi TT base model wheels at 16x7 and about 18 lbs each. Offset is 31 mm and he's running Michelin Pilot Primacy at 205/55/16. The Price was $800 from a Audi TT owner.

Handling is much better than stock, but still need way better tires.....225/50-16 Pilot Sport coming soon. Super stealth look....very unique wheel as less than 5% of TTs in the USA have the base model wheel. Took 4 months to find a set.

     Zilla is running Mille Miglia EVO at 16x7.5 with 35 mm offset ?? with Pirelli P7000 SS at 225/50/16 which sticklike glue, no abnormal tire noise.

   

VRx6 is runing RH Evolution C2 (Racing Hart) at 18x7.5 with offset
et 38 on his 2000 GTI VR6. Tires are Pirelli P7000 Supersports at 225/40/18 and suspension is Bilstein sport dampers with neuspeed race springs and 25 mm rear sway.

H&R spacers 8mm front, 15 mm rear. No rubbing.

   

HoustonSpeedFreak is running OZ Superturismo Corsa's at 18x8 at 26 lbs each and a 35 mm offset. Tires are Yoko Parada 225/40/18. Setup came from Tirerack at $269 per (wheel only). Suspension is H&R cupt kit. Slight rubbing at full wheel lock.

Tires not as good as Michelin Pilot Sports; the Paradas have become louder as they wear down and they are wearing down quickly.

    ManWh0re is running Antera
Type 321 at 18x8 with Pirelli P7000 Supersports at 225/40/18.
   

QuickStick is now running OZ Monte Carlo at 17x8 at 19 lbs each with offset 40 mm. His Tires are Pirelli P7000 Supersports at 225/45/17 and cost $389 per wheel+tire at Tirerack.

Suspension is Bilstein dampers with Eibach prokit springs

   

cosmicgreengti is running BBS RX II 2 peice rims at 17x7.5 with offset 35mm. He's got Yoko AVS Sports at 225/45/17 and is running neuspeed sports and bilstein dampers and ABD f+r sways and rear 5mm spacers. 

F+R ABD crossdrilled rotors, EBC greenstuff pads, G2 caliper paint stock sizes * Handling ----excellent roadholding, tires are glue but complain (squeel) at limits) * Tire Noise ----squeel at adhesion limits *
