Chorley is a bustling village set in the heart of Lancashire's countryside. It's surrounded by wide open moorland, parks and woodland. Since 1498 it has been known as Lancashire's "market town" as nearby townspeople come from all around to market their goods in the "town square".

Chorley's history is deeply rooted in England evidenced by it's stately homes, parks and gardens. Astley Hall is probably the most well known and dates back to the 16th century. In addition, there are other fine homes such as Houghton Tower and Heskin Hall. Houghton Tower is the ancestral home of the Houghton family since the reign of William the Conqueror and Heskin Hall was built in the Tudor times of 1545. The oldest of Chorley's historic buildings is St Laurence's Church which dates back to the 14th century.

The village of Chorley encompasses the towns of Adlington, Bretherton, Brindle, Charnock Richard, Coppull, Croston, Eccleston, Heskin, Houghton, Mawdesley, Rivington, Wheelton and the Top Locks, White Coppice, Whittle-le-woods, and Withnell Fold Village.
