Our mission is to provide a therapeutic horseback riding program for children and adults with disabilities that promotes and enriches their physical, psychological and social well-being.
Victoria Riding for the Disabled Association (VRDA) was formed in 1982 to provide a therapeutic riding experience to children and adults with disabilities. VRDA is a non-profit organization that uses horseback riding as a recognized therapeutic aid for people with a wide range of physical, intellectual and learning disabilities. VRDA offers classes to more than 140 children and adults with disabilities that include Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, Autism, intellectual challenges, and hearing or vision impairment. VRDA is made up of a volunteer board, a small paid staff and more than 100 volunteers who through their dedicated contribution of time enable these individuals to ride each week.
As a registered non-profit organization, the VRDA does
not receive any ongoing government funding. Rider fees cover
approximately 1/4 of our operating costs, the balance is raised through
fundraising efforts such as events, memberships and sponsorships of
riders and horses. Please visit our DONATE page to learn how you can help
support the program.
