OUR WONDERFUL HORSES

We at the Victoria Riding for the Disabled Association feel so grateful to have the use of such wonderful horses for our program. It takes a very special horse to be able to cope with this type of work. They must be quiet, patient, forgiving and possess the ability to stay calm in every situation. They must be tolerant of being surrounded by people, having riders in a variety of positions on their back and by being instructed by many different riders and handlers. While their job may appear to be easy, it can be quite stressful for them.

We currently own five horses for use in our program and lease others as required. These wonderfully kind and gentle steeds are special members or our organization. They work long days and ask for very little in return. The spirit of these equines assist people of all physical, emotional and mental abilities with overcoming their individual complexities.

Our horses are a critical component of the program. They are also the most expensive part costing approximately $7200 per horse per year which covers the cost of their board, shoeing and vet care. Your sponsorship of our horses would help us towards covering these costs. Sponsorship can be for one or more months and cover the whole cost or a portion of it.

Horse sponsors will be acknowledged with their name on a sign on our barn, a notice in our newsletter and a framed photo of the horse of their choice.
