MISSION STATEMENTThe purpose of the Victoria Riding for the Disabled Association is to provide a therapeutic horseback riding program for children and adults with disabilities to promote and enrich their physical, psychological and social well-being. PROGRAM DETAILSThe Victoria Riding for the Disabled Association (VRDA) is a non-profit organization that uses horseback riding as a recognized therapeutic aid for people with a wide range of physical, mental and learning disabilities. VRDA offers classes to 100 children and 25 adults who live in the Greater Victoria area and range from seven to sixty years of age. The disabilities include Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, Autism, intellectual challenges, and hearing or vision impairment. VRDA has been operating since 1982 and is made up of a volunteer board, a small paid staff and more than 100 volunteers who through their dedicated contribution of time enable these individuals to ride each week.
