Victoria's Largest Little Air Show

VRCMS Presents:

Victoria's Largest Little Air Show
August 20 & 21, 2005

Every August The Victoria Radio Controlled Modelers Society (VRCMS) hosts a most unique spectator event. The event promoted as Victoria's Largest Little Air Show is just that, an air show for the public using radio controlled scale models. This event has proven to be enormously popular with the general public. Attendance in 2004 was over 6000 people for the two days and we raised over $12000 that was donated to our charities CFAX's Santa's Anonymous and the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation.

Part of the attraction of this unique event is the accessibility to the pilots and their beautiful aircraft. Another factor is the continuous action from the time the gates are open until the end of each days flying. There is something for everyone from World War I planes to barnstormers. From World War II planes to modern day aircraft including jets, helicopters and purpose built acrobatic planes that have working smoke systems. There are also some unique novelty flights such as a flying lawn mower and a Witch along with exciting air demonstrations taking place throughout the air show. With this kind of excitement it is easy to see why so many people make it an event for the whole family and one that is put on their calendar months in advance.

The purpose for the VRCMS holding such an event is to raise money for the CFAX's Santa's Anonymous Fund and the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation. Our members feel strongly that through this kind of popular event we can, as a society, make a considerable donation to these most worthy of causes. It is with the help of our corporate sponsors that we are able to fund this event. At the event we will have booths set up for the charities. People are able to make donations directly or through the purchase of raffle tickets and the 50/50 draws. All the money made will go to the charities.

The sponsors of this event have the opportunity to have their contribution recognized by 5000 to 10,000 people. Last year we had C-Fax, Chek TV, The Peninsula Review, and The Times Colonist promote and cover the event. We anticipate greater involvement from the media after the overwhelming success of last years air show. Victoria's Largest Little Air Show will be an overwhelming success again this year
