Monument

I've known worry, pain, and fear,
but not like this.

I've been placed higher than others.
I wish I hadn't been.
It's no good when
you're afraid of heights.

Put away the flowers;
I don't need them.

Words are enough.

I've always been this way.
Only now has the strength
seen the spotlight.
Take a bow.

There was never any effort,
only endurance
I merely endured.

In the end, I am just another
death fearing human being.
