Eloquence

Can we be devoted
without having said
a word?

One foot steps over the line,
but the other remains
planted in its place.

Reach out, but not too far.
There is a wall there,
a point that is untouched.

There is nothing,
not even open air.
Just a lingering thought.

We collapse, one foot still
over the line, the other
too afraid to cross it.

Can we brave what
we do not know and
plunge into nothingness?

Hush now, don't think.
I was merely being
rhetorical.
