![]() The View Royal Public Library is located on the lower level of the Town Hall (45B View Royal Avenue) and is free to all View Royal residents and to people living on land owned by the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations. Non-residents of View Royal are charged a $10 annual fee per household. Thanks to a LEAD grant from the Victoria Foundation, the library has purchased many new audio tapes/CDs and large print books to benefit those who prefer their books in that format. Also, we received a grant from the Times-Colonist Raise-a Reader fund and we will be purchasing new videos from the IMAX series to update our children's section. Every week we add 15-20 new books in Mystery, Fiction and Non-fiction categories to our collection of over 15,000 titles. Also, the library participates in the provincial inter-library loan system, allowing patrons to request and borrow books from any library in British Columbia. We also have a children's area available to you if you wish to read one of our many books with your child. Members have access to two public computers and a printer for email, web surfing and word processing. Do you know someone who would enjoy a book for Christmas? We have many used and donated books at reasonable prices available at our on-going book sale in the library. The volunteers and board members of the View Royal Public Library wish all View Royal residents a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. As our Christmas and New Year gift to our patrons, we will be offering amnesty for all book fines between 15 December 2005 and 15 January 2006. All outstanding fines will be cancelled providing the books have been returned and if you return an overdue book, during the amnesty, no fine will be charged. Now is the time to find that book that fell behind the bookcase and return it! The library will be closed from Saturday 24 December 2005 until Monday 2 January 2006 to allow our volunteers to enjoy the Christmas and New Years Holidays. We will reopen on Tuesday 3 January. Please call (250) 479-2723 for more information or if you would like to volunteer a few hours of your time to work with the happy volunteers in the View Royal Public Library. Please join us at the library for our annual general meeting (AGM) on 26 January 2006 at 6:00 P.M. |
