Trackside Information

Who Are We ??

We are a lose knit group of persons of all ages who like to construct models that operate and are not just to look at. There are members who construct traction engines, some who make small steam engines and lots who construct large scale (.75", 1", 1.5" and 2.5" to the foot) railway equipment. We have tracks that support all of these scales. The 2.5" equipment is narrow gauge logging and mining equipment and is built to run on our extensive 7.5" ground level track. Our most popular scale is 1.5" standard gauge equipment. We have two club locomotives for the use of any member and lots of rolling stock to pull behind your engine.

Where Are We Located

Our club is situated on the Saanich Peninsula within the city of greater Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. There are many ways to get to our little Island in the pacific and visit our fair city and our tracksite.

If you are arriving from the Vancouver, BC area then you take the BC Ferries from Vancouver to the Victoria ferry terminal and head south on Highway 17.

If you are arriving from the Anacortes, Washington Ferry terminal then you follow the signs to highway 17 and turn south (left).

Now that you are on highway 17 southbound you will have to turn left onto Island View road. There is a left turn lane at this signaled intersection. You proceed eastbound on Island View road for about 300 feet and then turn left at the first chance onto Lochside. Continue north for approx. one half mile directly onto the tracksite at the Saanich Historical Artifacts Society (S.H.A.S.).

There is plenty of parking and lots to see on site with displays, a small village of restored buildings and a Museum

If you are on Vancouver Island already or are arriving in Victoria, BC from Seattle, Washington or Port Angeles, Washington then proceed northbound on highway 17 toward the BC Ferries Terminal and turn right at Island View Road.

You and your family (and your equipment if you want) are always welcome on the site.
