Many cultural events are organized throughout the year: classical music concerts (from May to September) in St. Euphrasius' Basilica, jazz evenings in the Museum of Porec or picturesque folk feasts in nearby Tar and Funtana.

During the summer, the Baredine Caves opens to display its treasure chest of stalagmites and stalactites - underworld sculptures created through time by the patient work of water. Some exceptional shapes have been created, such as the 10 meter long and high curtains, a very realistic sculpture of Our Lady, the body of a milkmaid called Milka, the leaning tower of Pizza and the torchbearer. A visit to this underworld treasure is highly recommended.

The cuisine of Istria represents a special Croatian style of cooking, rich in seafood - scampi and calamari and shellfish. The region produces excellent prosciutto, cheese and olives. Many traditional wine cellars offer fish soup, fish stew, boiled prawns, black and white frutti di mare risotto.

In the fall many dishes are prepared using the famous truffles of the region - unearthed by specially trained dogs and pigs. These truffles are reputed to contain aphrodisiac properties.
