Opportunity For Youth From LifeCycles

Text Provided By Lifecycles:

Victoria's Building Resilient Communities by Engaging Youth Project is looking for both youth and adults to participate.

It is an exciting project that will bring all walks of youth together to identify and choose some key projects YOUTH want to do that will make Victoria a better cooler safer healthier place! This fall we will work together to make a plan about what we want to do over the next three years

We need you to help make it happen!

The Advisory will:

- Learn more about the project and how the McConnell Family Foundation is going to select 4 of 6 participating projects (Victoria is one of the six short listed from across Canada) to support with up to $100,000 a year for three years.

- Give the project a funkier (shorter!) name

- Hire and supervise 2 Coordinators

- Help shape the project activities

- Support the project coordinators

- Help communicate about the project

- Get an honoraria (some cash!) for their time on the committee

We are looking for half youth (under 30!) and half "former youth" to sit on the advisory. We want folks from all walks and also adults from groups and agencies who can support youth, their ideas and energy. This project, and the advisory, is supported by a broad coalition of groups and individuals, including VIHA and the City of Victoria and the McConnell Foundation.

Want to hear more or apply to the Advisory? Come to an info session at:
7 pm-8pm on October 12, 2006

Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Centre 535 Yates St. Victoria
