A few photos from our vacation,
August, 2002.

We just came back from a lovely trip to Vancouver, White Rock, and Kelowna. The weather was perfect throughout our travels. Lots of new sites to see and experiences for us. Here are a few photos we thought we would share with you.

Prairie folks by the Pacific Ocean. White Rock Beach, BC.

Walking the shops at White Rock Christine has confirmed that she is definitely moving there.

Our gracious hosts, Gloria and Mick.

Shirley and Eric at an intersection in Vancouver's Gastown.

Dinner at Marissa and Garry's place. Guido and Vicky were also visiting at that time.
Word from the kids afterwards confirmed that Guido, with his harmonica, is way cool!

Walking White Rock Beach at low tide looking for shells, sand dollars, crabs, and other assorted gems.

Did we ever tell you that Christine wants to be an actress?
Not sure yet if she would be any good at it but she sure looks the part.

Shirley and Gloria at White Rock Beach.

Eighty year old (we counted the rings) Redwoods from a grove just east of White Rock, BC.

During our stay in Kelowna, we went for a hike to an area called Myra Canyon. It is part of what was once the Kettle Valley subdivision of the Canadian Pacific Railroad. The CPR has long abandoned this piece of track but much of it has been turned into hiking and biking path. In Myra Canyon area some 30 trestle bridges and tunnels have been preserved. Our hike was only 4 km (return) but we crossed 8 old trestles and 1 tunnel. The scenery was breath taking.

Two photos here. A view from the West end, and the East end of an old railway tunnel.
It was pretty dark in there. The tunnel was about 600 ft long.

Crossing another of the trestle.

Cute, and whimsical scenery taken at the Enchanted Forest. This is located just west of Revelstoke.

A site not often seen in Calgary, to be sure. Photo taken in the Enchanted Forest.

Bidding farewell to the west. Photo of part of the Okanagan Lake.
