FAIRY TALES

Hans Christian Anderson was born on April 2, 1805 in Odense Denmark.  He was the original "ugly duckling" - gawky with a high pitched voice, "long swinging arms", a big nose and huge feet.  He was both agoraphobic and a hypochondriac and even complained of tooth pain when he had dentures!  He tried for years to be a "serious writer" before he settled on the task of writing fairy tales.  He is best known for "The Emperor's New Clothes", "The Little Mermaid" and "The Ugly Duckling"....and he couldn't spell!
