Do you know how to spot a potentially deadly storm?

Which of these storms is most likely to produce severe weather?

What is CANWARN?
The CANadian Weather Amateur Radio Network is a voluntary organization of amateur radio operators who report severe weather to Environment Canada when they see it.  Reports from trained CANWARN members are used by severe weather meteorologists to refine forecasts and issue severe weather watches and warnings.

What would I have to do?
All we ask is that you attend the free CANWARN training session on April 29, 2006 and make yourself available from time to time to assist Environment Canada in tracking severe weather.  During a severe weather event we may activate a CANWARN net to route reports from spotters to Environment Canada and to pass the latest weather information from Environment Canada back to our spotters.  CANWARN is a small commitment with a potentially huge payoff for our community.

How do I get involved?
Sign up for the CANWARN training on April 29, 2006 by contacting Gern, VA6HGS.

Help us spread the word about this training. Tell as many hams a possible about this training and encourage them to participate in CANWARN. The more people we have, the stronger our network will be.

What about my family?
Make your entire family severe weather aware by bringing your significant other and older children to the CANWARN training. Although only licensed amateurs are eligible for CANWARN membership, families of amateurs are welcome at the training.
