Night League Directives

  1. There seems to be some confusion about running time.  First of all, that decision is made only by the Gym Supervisor.  Coaches have no say in that decision. During running time, the clock does not stop for any reason and coaches may not have a time out. The penalty situation is still in effect during running time and there may be bonus shots but the clock still runs. In the final two minutes of the game, revert back to regular stop time and coaches make take time outs then.

  2. Be aware of "hard fouls" or fouls with "excessive contact" There are no warnings here. Call that an Unsporting Foul and award two shots and possession. We need to be consistent on that.

  3. An unsporting foul involves contact - a technical foul does not. We had a technical foul called which should have been an unsporting foul.

  1. All technical fouls must be written up on the "Incident Report" sheet before leaving the gym. Make sure you include the name of the player or coach and give a description of the incident that resulted in the technical foul. The V&D does monitor technical fouls and multiple offenders are turned over to the Discipline Committee.

  2. During the first four weeks, several coaches have taken liberties with some of their comments directed at referees. Again, there are no warnings here. Coaches with multiple technical fouls will be sent to the Discipline Committee as well. We need to be consistent here as well.

  3. Strictly enforce the "No Jewellry" rule.

  4. The t-shirt under the jersey has become a problem. Please make sure that the t-shirt is the appropriate colour. The colour may be the same colour as the jersey or the whole team may wear white. Please enforce and have players remove inappropriate shirts.
