The Ambassadors’ Inn
The
Ambassadors’ Inn is reserved for only the most predominant
visitors to Cor Cathair. A pass must be provided by the Visitors’
Centre to those who wish to acquire a suite. Every requirement
is provided for and no expense is spared.
Most
rooms are special apartments made to accommodate entire households,
though there are a few suites set aside for those who choose
to travel alone. Extended staff is provided to each patron,
as well as a personal carriage should it be required.
On
the ground floor there are several dining areas to choose
from, as well as a rustic tavern and a smoking room for the
gentlemen. On the first floor is a large library for those
who wish to use it for leisure or those who wish to read about
Cordaire’s nation and history. Also located on the first
floor is a ballroom and function room. The second, third and
fourth floors are set aside for visiting guests. Each room
has its own private bath and adjoining suites for staff and
servants. An in-house tailor, hairdresser and blacksmith are
available should there be need.
Rebeccah
is the manager for The Ambassadors’ Inn and will see
to your every need.
Dragon's Blood Tavern
The Seaport of Dalton on the northern edge of Taobh-Deas.
To the east, rose the mountains of the Island of Mias and
at the south point a volcano could be seen spewing tons of
rock and ash skyward. The Dragon's Blood Tavern & Inn
got its name by the red sea near the north point near Taobh-Deas.
It is believed through legends that a Red Serpent still lives
in the Dragon Grove deep within the honeycomb of this old
volcano.
Travelers
making hast from afar, seem to bypass this tavern except for
Seafarers and Warrior ships that pass close by and anchor
out in the harbor to repair the damage done to the hull by
the jagged underwater mountains of volcanic rock.
Nearly
all that stop by are sailors, merchants and pirates.
A rough tavern on the outskirts of the township of Taobh-Deas.
The Inn is more like a brothel where ladies entertain their
regular clientele and spys for the Cordairian Royal Army seem
to roam in disguise looking for information.
Taobh-Deas
has become a regular foreign trade market since the SS EnDeavour
homeported itself there. Several piers built and the town
thrives on fishing boats catching white fish and foreign trade.
Dragon's
Blood Tavern and Inn is always stocked with Duke & Duchess
Brewing ale and mead. The prices are dirt cheap to drink the
intoxicating alcohol.
The Gilded Spur
The
Gilded Spur is one of the better taverns in Cor Cathair. It
caters to merchants and commoners alike, offering rooms which
are affordable to rooms which are expansive and opulent.
There
are five floors to the Inn, housing up to 400 guests at one
time, and a full stable with an on-site smithy. Located on
the ground floor is the tavern, a dining area and three private
rooms which can be rented for personal engagements. The kitchen
is to be admired with four great ovens to cater to every flavour.
The
first and second floors contain simpler rooms for those who
are unable to afford the luxury apartments on the upper floors.
Both floors have a shared bath for the guests to use. The
third floor caters to the wealthier patrons who prefer comfort
to value. Each room has a private bath and a personal servant
is available upon request. The fourth and final floor contains
four penthouse apartments able to house an entire working
household if need be. These rooms are for nobility who are
unable to stay at the Ambassadors’ Inn.
If
you need a room, you’d best be speaking to Kayla. She’s
young, but knows the ins and out of the taverns and will see
to your every comfort. If you’ve come with wagon or
horses, then speak to either Burl or Monday. They’ll
see that nothing untoward happens to your belongings.
The Knave’s Blade
The
Knave’s Blade is one of the seedier taverns located
close to the docks. It’s where you go if you’re
short on coin and short on morals. It stands three stories
high and also has a small network of cellars. The ground floor
consists of the tavern and the kitchens with a narrow foyer
that leads up to the first and second floor. Nestled within
the foyer is the front desk which also connects to the bar
in the tavern.
The
first floor has six rooms and more often than not, they will
house more than one guest, so be prepared to share. The second
floor has two rooms available which are of slightly better
quality. The remaining rooms on the top floor house the staff
and their guests.
Finn
McCool is the tavern owner and the likes of Moira and Naci
waits tables. There are a number of other bar wenches, but
be warned, a wandering hand will find itself short a few fingers,
yet for the right price one may visit your room. Belden is
the only cook, and though he has remarkable skill, his hygiene
leaves something to be desired, so look twice before digging
into your meal.
Standard
costs:
Beer
and Wine: 1 copper
Spirits and Narcotics: 2 coppers
Standard Meal: 3 coppers
Room per Night: 5 coppers
The
Silver Thorn
The
Silver Thorn caters to a very particular group of the city's
residents and visitors – those of evil and wicked intent,
or those of a shunned race. It offers safety and sanctuary
as well as the finest and most fanciful brews and entertainment
in all the Unknown Lands.
The
exact location of the tavern is something of a mystery for
there are many doorways (all cleverly hidden by illusions)
into this hidden sanctuary all across the city and down many
a dark and gloomy alleyway. One thing is certain however –
only those of dark hearts or of the nether-races can ever
locate these doors.
The
tavern is located underground, so there are no windows. It
appears to have no fixed size, for it can seem large or small
depending entirely upon the number of patrons present at the
time.
Beyond
the main floor, past a series of tough bouncers, is a large
area dedicated to gambling. Large card tables, roulette tables
and other strange betting games are set around the taverns
central attraction – the duelling pit. Those wishing
to test their might can battle against many wondrous and terrible
beasts, all for amazing prizes and the entertainment of the
crowds.
Below
the main floor, down a winding stairway that never seems the
same length, is a corridor that seems endless in either direction.
Numerous doorways are set into each wall, each one leading
to comfortable guest rooms which can be rented for a very
reasonable price. For an addition cost, illusions can be cast
in each room to decorate it for the duration of the stay however
one might wish.
Beyond
gaming and accommodation, the tavern brews drinks and cooks
food perfectly suitable for the tastes of even the most vile
creatures – from fresh blood to week old boots, there
is virtually no vile concoction that cannot be served.
Standard
costs:
Beer
and Wine: 2 copper
Spirits and Narcotics: 4 coppers
Meals: 5 coppers to 1 silver
Room per Night: 2 silvers
The
Wolf's Claw Tavern
By
the harbour in Rivermead stands the Wolf's Claw Tavern, run
by Halima min-Quadrai Abd-Nabil. Most of the clientele are
rouges, pickpockets and whores, but the occasional thrill-seeking
young noble can be seen. With an interior that could be taken
from a fable from the southern deserts and with the matching
exotically dressed girls it is a good place to get away from
your everyday troubles and just enjoy a good ale, or an ale
along with pleasant company.
