My name is not really Jorge, but it is a nickname I have had for about 27 years now. My hubby started to call me Jo and when I told him I didn't like it he said he would find a better one. A week later he started to call me Jorge.. he said it was short for Gorgeous Jorge. Well who am I to argue with my childhood sweetheart! The name has stuck, now if anyone calls and asks for me by my given name he hangs up! LOL. Takes him about 10 minutes and then he figures out they meant me! Wasn't until quite some time later I found out that Gorgeous George was a) a wrestler and b) an albino gorilla. He says he spells it different so it isn't related!

I am very happily married to wonderful guy and truck driver named Dale. And he is cute too! He is my childhood sweetheart and I fell madly in love with him when I was 14. Then I moved, he moved, I got married, had my daughter, got divorced and then Dale came back into my life and never left. That was almost 27 years ago. We recently celebrated out Silver wedding anniversary.

I have 2 wonderful children, Shannon is my oldest and Damien is 4 years younger. Shannon helps me with the technical aspects of this web page and is smart, funny and really pretty. (Can you tell she helped write this page!) I may be biased, but you could always go look at my family pictures! Click here to see the Pics! She is also my favorite daughter, but don't tell all my daughters from other mothers.. they argue over who is the favorite daughter! Kait (one of the "adopted ones") figures she should be favorite daughter because she gave me a granddaughter by proxy and never borrows money. So they argue between themselves on points of favour.. I let them cuz I have never figured out their points system! Shannon gets extra points every October because she sews my Halloween costumes. She does such a great job I have won contests! I have been Scarlet O'Hara, a gypsy, Anne Boleyn, Mother Nature and a Renaissance lady the last few years. See the Pics here!!

Damien is a truck driver like his dad and they both own their big trucks. He has had 3 open-heart surgeries. One when he was 17 days old, the second when he was 11 and the latest when he was 17. I blame all my grey hair on him! He still lives at home.. sort of.. now he is a room mate because my hubby is too cheap to pay the whole rent! LOL.Not that we see much of him, he is on the highway quite a lot. He has also swapped semi's with Dad so now he has the really nice one "Bully'in" and Dad has bought himself a dump truck.

For Christmas a couple years ago Damien got his first truck dog, a 5 pound chocolate brown poodle that he named Charlie Brown.. Chuck for short! We have always had little dogs in our family. Dale has had several since we have been together. The latest is a 10 pound red poodle named Willie. I know, you are thinking a truck driver with a red POODLE!!?? Well if you could meet my tattooed trucker guy you would understand why NOBODY ever teases him about having a poodle! He really likes having a companion in the truck and at least poodles don't shed. Willy is quite a character too! See the Pet Pics here!!

I am a cat person myself. I am owned by a purebred Bengal named Mischief. Dale bought her for me last Christmas. I was going to name her Sheba Queen of Surrey, but that lasted about 2 days and then she earned the named Mischeif because she gets into everything and is a real nosy parker! She is a really neat cat though; she loves to play with just about anything and she doesn't let the dogs bully her at all! She gives as good as she gets! My favorite characteristic of the Bengal breed is that they don't shed! Not at all! Which is great because Dale said after my last cat died of old age at 18, that I could only get one of those Sphinx cats because they don't shed. I think Sphinx cats are kind of ugly.. poor things! We compromised when I did some research and found that Bengals don't shed either. She is really beautiful with huge green eyes, silky soft fur and spots like a wildcat instead of stripes like ordinary house cats. Luckily she gets along with the dogs. You can visit the site of her breeder at: Exotic Bengals or see pics of her in the Pets Pics (link above)

My hobbies include reading voraciously (mostly SF & fantasy and mysteries but I will read just about anything if desperate), travel, horses and volunteering. I have been an Arabian horse enthusiast for many years. I love traveling to the big horse shows in Canada and the US. You get to meet the neatest people, like Patrick Swayze, Robert Wagner and other celebrities. And the horses are beautiful. I have a tattoo on my left upper arm of an Arabian stallion's head in grey and black work. When I get my Arabian Horse World   magazine every month Dale doesn't even talk to me for a least a couple of hours… he calls it my "drool book". Mainly because I keep pointing out the really nice ones and saying "but s/he is only a couple of thousand or so! No problem to keep!"

We now live in Surrey right near the skytrain, with a huge yard. But my hubby is never content to just let a yard be, so I now have huge decks out the back and LOTS of sheds and stuff! And the hot tub is set up and in use all the time, I am just waiting for him to finish the round sauna (yes.. round!) of red and yellow cedar. He is an awesome carpenter. All that deck space is great though, we can sit outside anytime or go to the sauna or just hang out.

I volunteer a lot! I have been involved with the 767 Dearman Royal Canadian Air Cadets for about 15 years now. They recruited me by saying that it would only be a couple of hours a week or so, no big deal, not a lot of work. Yeah right! LOL.I have been the Bingo co-coordinator, Public relations, Treasurer and general dog's body. This year I am Secretary (for the 4rd term) and Community Services coordinator. My daughter went through the program and that is how I got involved. She transferred from the cadets to the BCR's (British Columbia Reservists) when she was 18 and thinks it is really funny that I have "been in" longer than she was! Cadets start at age 12 and retire when they reach the ripe old age of 19. It is a really terrific program that promotes youth, teaching them self-assurance, community service and many useful skills that can be used in their adult life. Cadets can even earn their pilot's wings free of charge! There are many camps they can attend in the summer.. And get paid! If you would like to learn more about cadets please follow the link to our squadron. 767 Dearman Homepage I have been doing just about everything with them, including cooking at weekend camps. You try cooking for 40-50 teenagers! Wow, they can eat a lot! If you would like to see pictures of all the cadet activities see the cadet photo albums. Cadet Pictures

I have done a lot of other volunteering as I truly believe in giving back to the community. This year I was a volunteer with the World Junior Hockey championships! That was a lot of fun. Vancouver has won the right to host the Olympics in 2010 and I definitely want to be a volunteer with that! So I am working on more sports oriented opportunities. I volunteer with the Canucks hockey, the BC Lions football and the Whitecaps soccer. I have also done the Variety Club Telethon, the Children's Miracle Network telethon and way too many to list! I have been on management teams of charity events for that few years, including the Rick Hansen Wheels in Motion event, the FrenchDressing 8k Walk for Breast Cancer, the Canuck FanRun (yes the hockey players and they are nice guys!) Christmas at Canada Place and one of the largest family events in BC, Canada Day at Canada Place held every July 1st.
