3 Step Approach
Stance

The right handed bowler begins with most of the weight on the right foot.  The ball is held in a relaxed grip directly in front of the bowler.

Step 1 - Push away

Also called the drop away, the bowler moves the ball away from the body, straightening the right arm.  The left foot moves forward simultaneously.

Step 2 - Backswing

As the bowler begins the second step, the straight bowling arm begins to swing the ball back.

Top of the Backswing

At the top of the backswing the ball should be even or a little bit higher than the shoulder.  The shoulders are forward in line with the front knee.

Step 3

The Slide - The Stroke

As the left leg comes forward in a slide, the right arm accelerates forward through the release in a forward movement call the stroke.

Release Follow Through

The arm is smoothly accelerating when the ball is released and the arm continues its motion finishing in a follow through.

 Follow Through

The elbow of the bowling arm should be at least as high as the shoulder and the trailing (back) leg should be in contact with the floor.
