Dr. Tom Perry

Dr. Perry is a general internist and clinical pharmacologist, who has had a life in politics outside his medical career.  He was a Member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 1989 – 1996 and was the Minister of Advanced Education, Training and Technology from 1991 – 1993.  He is heavily involved in the Therapeutics Initiative and remains politically active in environmental issues.

Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Departments of Medicine and Pharmacology & Therapeutics

Member, Drug Assessment Working Group and Scientific Committee, Therapeutics Initiative; Course Co-director, Advanced Therapeutics, Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics.

Academic/clinical interests: 

Teaching rational and safe use of drugs; critical appraisal of new drugs; assessing safety of old and new drugs from post-marketing surveillance and improving patient safety through regulatory change; supervisor of electives in Clinical Pharmacology.
