Scenery Special

Why this special?  On the various groups I belong to, I have been answering questions as to methods and materials of the techniques I use for scenery, that were developed by Rick Reimer of Selkirk Scenery.

This is a sampler package that will allow you to try the fake hair grass technique, weeds and shrubs/bushes,  and making hardwood and softwood trees.  You will have to provide the tree stock material for hardwood trees, and purchase the whisk broom material for the softwood trees.   For the latter two materials, shipping costs would be more then their value.

  • Selkirk Scenery Dark Leaf material, either Fine for HO and S, or Standard for O scale an larger, dependent on your order
  • Selkirk Scenery 1/4" netting material
  • Woodands Scenics (3/4 cup mix of  one part 1346 & three parts 1349 )
  • Selkirk Scenery Leaf Material sample for weeds and bush use
  • two 16" lengths of rebar wire for bottlebrush softwood tree technique
  • tspn of walnut shells used for cones on softwood trees (looks good in O sale)
  • 1" of metal mesh material used to create softwood tree tops
  • 8" length of sisal rope for bushes
  • strand of fake blonde wig for grass

Some materials in my scenery box

There is no question that buying the materials in bulk will reduce your scenery costs.  My package is just meant to introduce you to the materials without having to go through the large expense.   The picture on the left has approximately $75 CAN  in materials.   The wire mesh, took me two years to find a store that sold by the foot, most hardware stores sell it in a 100' roll.
