What is Breaker? It's a lighthearted, original and addictive little arcade game which has been described as a kind of cross between Centipede™ and Pac-Man™. The playing field is dynamic - it's almost a living thing which is ever changing and forcing you to keep your wits about you. It's got cute colour graphics, fast & furious game play (things SPEED UP as your score increases), and lots of funky, noisy little sounds.
Perhaps the best part about Breaker is its "Old Mac Compatibility" - it will play on ANY computer with Mac OS, System 7.0 to System 9.2. Still have a 1986 vintage Mac Plus? Breaker will switch to black & white mode and run on it. Tired old Mac LC II from 1992? No problem. Got the latest G4 with a massive colour monitor? Breaker will utilize it in full colour.
Breaker runs as a traditional Mac app, so you can play it in the foreground while you're downloading a big file in the background. Or playing your favourite MP3's. Or whatever.
Keep in mind, Breaker isn't Unreal or Halo or anything close to cutting-edge. It's an updated version of a game I wrote in 1990 (which I developed as my way of learning to program on the Macintosh). But... I still think it's fun. See if you agree.
Why publish a 1990-era game? Well, I guess it's a way of "thanking" Breaker for helping me figure out Mac programming. Hope you enjoy it.
