Tom Shermer June 16 at Grant Narrows Park in Pitt Meadows I found this interesting Yellow Warbler on the nature dyke out at Grant Narrows today. Well, at least, I think that it's a he and that he's a Yellow, and he's interesting to me. One interesting part is the line from his bill leading back under his eye. None of my books show a line anywhere near that long on a Yellow. Also, the grey on his wings and tail seem very, well, grey for a Yellow. Generally the dark parts of a Yellow seem more greenish to me. And this guy's bill looks a little short.
But here's a shot showing his undertail, which seems a rather distinctive Yellow Warbler undertail to me.
Anyhow, most of the Yellows I saw on the day were quite different, like this fellow. These are the kind that I see around most of the time, so I suppose that this is a typical brewsteri.
Cheers,
