Things are on the move again for TSAR!
Drummer Steve Coulter posted this
link on his facebook page that an LA Times report about a
new film starring Rain Wilson called "Super".
Looks like TSAR will have a song featured in that film and on top of that
they are hitting Hot Pie studios to record a couple of songs for a proposed
digital single to be released in the very near future.

it's turning into a happening place.

I
aquired a couple of cool items recently :
A promo CD from Hollywood Records for the entire first album.
Something I didn't even know existed til Kent told me about an auction
on ebay listing it.
Also, I got a hold of a copy of the first album on cassette.
Details for both of these are now up on the discog
page for you to look at.
Cool.

Man,
the hits just keep coming!
Yesterday the great Rock 'n Roll podcast blog "Rock
and Roll Geek Show" (a project
of "American Heartbreak" bassist/vocalist, Michael Butler)
posted an interview with Jeff Whalen from TSAR as part of a recurring segment
for RnRGS called "Classic Albums Revisited".
In the Whalen interview they spent the first 30 minutes or so, talking about
the formation and early Years of TSAR then took about another 40 minutes
discussing the debut album for Hollywood Records, going track by track.
They also spoke about the re-joining of Steve and Jeff S. and discussed
the probability of new TSAR record by the end of 2010. (I'm putting it in
print to help hold them to it! ;) )
It was an incredibly in depth discussion of the band--easily the most informative
ever done in the history of TSAR--and it behooves you to get immediately
over the the "Rock and Roll Geek Show" site and listen to this.

It's
been a great week for TSAR fans. The release of the
LA Times video has sparked all sorts of excitement among the
faithful plus it's given us a peek at the possibility of a future release
form this much missed outfit.
Accordingly, to reflect my excitement, I worked on the History
page last week--for the first time since 2006, I realize to my eternal
shame--and so there is a lot more to read there plus a couple of pictures.
(including one really cool one of a whiteboard used in the studio during
the first album sessions that show a couple of tunes not on the final product.)
Check
it out and, rest assured, there will be more to come.
While your at it, please head over to the
messageboard and say "hi" to us.

Holy
toledo!
2
years with no info to speak of them BLAM! 2010 starts off with
a bang. Diggity from the message
board put out an email the other day claiming there was HUGE TSAR
news. He was right.
On Thursday, January 28th TSAR played a 26 minute live set at the LA Times.
The performance would be notable just for it happening but it was epic
because it saw the return of the original rhythm section: Jeff Solomon
and Steve Coulter!
It's also worth mentioning
that the TSAR Myspace
has been updated this week and the members of the band are listed as,
Jeff, Jeff, Dan, and Steve.
Gives it all a bit of a more concrete fell, no?
The band ripped through
about 8 songs or so including a brand new (to me anyway) one called "Police
Station" as well as the reappearance of "Bands With Beards".
The video of the show can
be seen here:
TSAR
Live At The LA Times
Also
on that webpage you can hear a new version of a song that TSAR were performing
almost from their inception, Girls
Try To Be Cool.
The
re-working of this tune sounds great and this all makes me excited for
what could happen in the coming months.
Get into it!!
