These are a few of my favourite things:

Chocolate and Coffee and Ice Cream and Shopping and Movies and Magazines and Toys and Travel.

chocolate MMMM. There is something about chocolate that allows it to cover so many bases. I am not too picky about chocolate when I really crave it; but that is another story.

When I am indulging myself, I will go out and find a Rogers Victoria Cream, some Purdy's Mint Melties, or maybe some Godiva or Bernard Callebeaut treats.

Coffee As with chocolate, I am not all that picky about coffee when I crave it (I am a total caffeine addict!) but I really love a nice strong dark roast with a little sugar and some milk or cream. We recently managed to kick Starbucks coffee for something in the affordable realm which also happens to be Canadian (Yay!).

Actually, I like coffee so much, I made a whole page devoted to it.

Ice Cream In Victoria there is one place you must go to get the best soft serve cones for miles around: the Beacon Hill Drive-In. Aside from that, I'll take a DQ Peanut Buster Parfait (but with caramel instead of hot fudge sauce) or a tub of premium toffee crunch, butterscotch ripple or something similar.

Shopping I could devote an entire page to my shopping indulgences... in fact I have!

MoviesI review movies for Apollo Guide and after watching a dozens of mediocre movies, I like to indulge in a classic favourite (Wizard of Oz) or even a guilty pleasure (Demolition Man). I find most people agree on the classics; few people agree on guilty pleasures.

I have collected many movie links and am working on a searchable database of our movie collection on another page, Mike & Cheryl's Master Movie List.

magazines Magazines are geared towards people like me who love reading a little of this and a little of that. Britpop musician Jesus Jones included a song called "Magazine" on his album Perverse (1993) which sums them up pretty well:

Yeah, I like magazines and I like to splurge on different titles for different reasons. I only have one subscription (Utne Reader -- the Readers Digest of the alternative press) and the rest I either buy off the newstand, borrow from the library or get second-hand. Aside from Utne, my faves are (in no particular order):

Though they have always been around, zines got their own renaissance in the nineties.... some even grew up into "real" magazines. Here's some zines and zine resources:

All the things I read come from magazines
My concentration never was what it might have been
And I know that I'm impatient but there isn't really time
To have all these ideas going through my mind

Toys Where to start...? I love toys. I have three Rubbermaid® containers filled with my Lego which I still build with (my daughter will have to amass her own collection), and four or five boxes of collectible or at least sentimental toys. My Spirograph and Lite Brite sets may be long gone but thanks to obsessive collectors on the web, I can still visit from time to time....

Travel Travel is something I really enjoy. I have been to cities in four Canadian Provinces (BC, AB, ON, PQ), six of the United States (WA, OR, CA, ID, MT, FL), one Protectorate (Puerto Rico), and five other countries (England, France, Italy, Germany, Netherlands).

Check my travel journal for more about my travel adventures.
