back to basics   keeping house         Skip to: Organizing -- Lessons -- Resources

Keeping house is not what I thought it would be. For instance, I try never to iron.

However, there are still dishes and clothes to wash, floors to vaccuum and sweep, stains to remove, and mountains of stuff to keep in order.

Lessons

Some lessons are learned the hard way. For example, peanut butter will get chewing gum off clothing, but unfortunately it also leaves behind a big greasy stain.

Another tough lesson was losing papers and books to flood damage. Now my most precious mementos are in plastic storage containers (such as Rubbermaid® and Sterilite®).
