There are a number of parts from the Toyota Cavalier that were not available on the Chevrolet Cavalier, even by special order. Most of these parts will simply bolt-on to the North American cars without modification. Despite the rumours that these parts are hard to find, Toyota Cavalier parts are readily available from a growing number of sources.

The most plentiful source of Toyota Cavalier parts is the GM parts warehouse in Lansing, Michigan. All of these parts are brand new, unused, in boxes. As most people don't exactly have access to the warehouse... you can order any of the parts listed below by part number at any GM parts counter. You can also order them from GM online part sources, such as GM Parts Direct (www.gmpartsdirect.com). As these are new OEM parts, you can expect the cost of these parts to be, well... insanely high.

In all, there were nearly 38,000 Toyota Cavaliers shipped to Japan. Over time, those Cavaliers have been in accidents and written off, junked, sold, exported to other countries, etc. There is a small but lucrative market for used Toyota Cavalier parts. You can find parts on the internet from a variety of sources, including Ebay, from Steve at Streetline (www.street-line.net), and other mainly-overseas sites, including Japan, Australia, New Zealand, etc. Because these parts are almost always from wrecked/used cars, availability of parts can vary along with pricing.

Toyota Cavalier production parts

95tailL

96-99 taillights
These lights will fit any Cavalier or 4-door Sunfire from 1995-2005. These lights have a black surround (instead of the red reflective surround you see on stock 95-99 GM lights) and a separate amber turn signal. Some wiring modifications are necessary to make the signals work separately from the brake lights (refer to instructions on the How To's page).

L outer: 22626395
L inner: 22622101
R inner: 22622100
R outer: 22626394

2ktailR

2000 taillights
These lights will fit any Cavalier or 4-door Sunfire 1995-2005. These lights have a maroon-coloured surround, instead of the red reflective surround you see on stock GM lights (it can be painted!). Turn signal lamps have clear lenses with a separate amber bulb. Some wiring modifications are necessary to make the signals work separately from the brake lights (refer to instructions on How To's page).

2000 front marker lights
These lights are a direct replacement for the stock 2000+ Cavalier front marker lights. They will also fit if you are doing a 2000 headlight conversion on a 95-99 Cavalier (bumper cutting necessary).

They are identical to the Chevrolet lights, except that the orange reflector inside the lamp housing is chromed instead.

Folding side mirrors
Roads are narrower in Japan, so they have factory folding mirrors on their Cavaliers. The mirrors are standard electric-folding on the coupe, with manual or power adjustable on the sedan. The coupe was not available with manual adjustment mirrors. Sedan mirrors have been fit to coupes, but some modification is necessary (not a direct bolt-in). Keep in mind that the convex mirror is on the left side on Toyota models, so if you want to use the mirrors properly you'll have to fit new glass to them.

Coupe/electric L: 22635717
Coupe/electric R: 22635716
Sedan/electric L: 22635715
Sedan/electric R: 22635714

wheel

Leather steering wheel
The factory Toyota Cavalier steering wheel is leather wrapped... very nice! A definite improvement over the stock plastic wheel. Airbag module (with Toyota symbol) is a separate piece. The stock 95-02 airbag will fit in the Toyota wheel, however.

Part number: 16757202

bsy1

Toyota airbag module
The steering wheel airbag on the Toyota Cavalier is emblazoned with, of couse, a Toyota symbol. Unfortunately, the cover is integrated with the airbag and not available separately. Changes to the airbag systems from 96/97 to 98/99 to 2000 means different part numbers. You cannot mix and match different years of airbag systems without changing the clock spring.

Part numbers:
96/97 airbag module: 16757204
98/99 airbag module: 16825788
2000 airbag module: 16866011

rest

Rear seat with armrest
This is a direct replacement for the stock rear seat. I only know the numbers for the Graphite/Red Fleck pattern. It is a three-piece rear seat, with a centre sunken flip-down armrest. (Three pieces: Rear Seat Back, Centre Armrest and Armrest Close Out) This was a factory issue rear seat on the Toyota Cavalier. The seat cushion doesn't come with the metal reinforcement inside the seat - I have no idea what the number is for that (sorry!). You can fabricate a bracket and attach it to a stock Chevy metal backing, then bolt the armrest to that.

Part numbers:
Rear seat cushion: 22646585 (graphite/red)
Armrest assembly: 22646591 (graphite/red)
Armrest close out: 12530009 (graphite/red)

Other part numbers (colours unknown):
Rear seat cushion: 22646586, 22646587, 22646588, 22646589
Armrest assembly: 22646593, 22646594, 22646596, 22646597
Armrest close out: 12530011, 12530012, 12530013, 12530014, 12530015

lid01

Trunk lid carpeting
The Toyota Cavalier came with a molded piece of carpet on the inside of the trunk lid. This piece will fit the Cavalier or Sunfire 4-door models. It will not fit Sunfire coupes.

Part numbers:
Trunk lid carpet: 22657896
Retainers: 11518017 (This number was originally 21030249, but I've been advised that number is no longer available)

fenderflares

Flared fenders
Toyota Cavalier has wider flares on the front fenders, to help cover the front wheels better. They also come pre-drilled with the hole for the side markers.

Part numbers:
L fender: 22610683
R fender: 22610682
Side marker light: 16516916

Sorry, no pic yet

Aftermarket parts

As detailed on the Models page, there was in fact a TRD Toyota Cavalier. The 11-piece TRD Aero kit was available exclusively in Japan, and in very limited numbers. It is rumored that the molds for the TRD body kit have since been destroyed, so it is unlikely that more kits will ever be made available by TRD.

However, a replica of the TRD Toyota Cavalier body kit was developed by Gravana Tuning (www.gravanatuning.com). It was rumoured that Steve at Street-Line (www.street-line.net) was trying to duplicate the look of the TRD Toyota Cavalier body kit, but unfortunately that kit never made it to production.

TRD also produced a set of lowering springs for the Toyota Cavalier, the RS-R T300D kit.

BOMEX was another popular kit that was widely mass-produced, including many copies of the kit which are still available in North America. BOMEX also produced a set of side mirrors, which are much closer to the body - a slick looking upgrade!

Another aftermarket company, known to me only as Magician, sold springs, wood tone trim and shifter kits, foot rests and a variety of other Toyota Cavalier-specific parts. I have never seen these parts available in North America.

Yet another company called HRF produced an exhaust system and a body kit. I haven't been able to find pictures of it.
