In 2000, when its' North American counterpart got a minor
facelift, the Toyota Cavalier did as well. New bumpers,
spoiler, wheels, body control module (and all it's fun
complications!) were all upgrades from the '99 model.
So what's different between the Chevrolet and Toyota
Cavaliers?
Quite a few things!
Wipers are on the left side of the steering wheel, not the
right
Headlight switch is different
No cruise control
Special Edition Toyota Cavalier
There were a number of Special Edition Toyota Cavaliers
which came with red & black Toyota badges and
lettering, and featured a complete leather package. These
were made in Lordstown, Ohio as well - not modified in
Japan after arriving as some people seem to think. The
parts are readily available from GM if you know the part
numbers.

The TRD Toyota Cavalier
Some 100 Toyota Cavaliers were modified by TRD Technocraft
after arrival in Japan. They featured an 11-piece body kit:
Only available in 97 and 98 years. 50 per year.
Tokoro & Indy
George Tokoro and his dog Indy were Toyota's "Mascots" for
the Cavalier.
I once found a CD on Ebay, for George Tokoro named "Tokyo
Big City" which was apparently used in the Toyota Cavalier
commercials. I didn't buy it though :)
I've seen cell phone straps as well, apparently a gift from
Toyota dealers to hang your cell phone in you Toyota
Cavalier. I also found a Cavalier iron-on patch, with the
words "Tokoro & Indy Favorite" on it... which I did buy
from Ebay :)
