Clogging is a folk dance that started in the Appalachian Mountains in the US. Settlers from different countries got together and shared the dance forms from their respective areas. From this grew clogging along with bluegrass Music.
Today we clog to modern music, country and pop or whatever else we decide we like. We dance with taps on our shoes, so we make a fair amount of noise when we get going.
Modern clogging has been done in Alberta for the past 20 years. The instructors for the Bow Valley Cloggers, Maureen and Tom Dakers, have been dancing for 19 years and teaching for 17 now.
The Bow Valley Cloggers dance Wednesday nights at the Sunalta Community Hall.
Our New Dancer Classes will be on Mondays at Mount Pleasant Community Hall starting September 16. The next new class will start in January. Clogging is fun for everyone, come join us.
